Recycled Tables Va-Va-Voomed With Etched Stainless Steel Surfaces

I'm not a proponent of face lifts because I think that people should embrace their laugh lines and life experience rather than running toward the nearest botulism-filled needle.

In the case of old household objects, however, I LOVE when people think outside of the box in order to melt away the cobwebs and create new lustre to something that might have been instead relegated to the curb.

A little lipstick and varnish is definitely what the greenie doctor ordered, but Mo Man Tai takes it one step further by covering the surfaces of recycled tables with a thin sheet of stainless steel.

What was once perhaps a little worn around the edges now appears sleek and put-together...but then they dial it up a few more notches by etching a lace pattern onto that steel.

The result? Sleek refinement? Modern polish meets a solitary pinkie poised in the air?

Frankly, I don't really care what vibe their pieces give off -- all I know is that they are rescuing old furniture from certain death, so their collection could have a hand-screened purple and red checkerboard pattern studded with clumps of cat hair and I'd probably think that it's cool.

Am I the only recycling nerd out there, or are there other people who agree with me? Perhaps if these tables were new and adorned with their shimmering stainless steel surfaces, I might not be as enamoured, but now...I suddenly think that I have a thing for lace.

This is a great post and I like the idea of changing my otherwise boring and coffee cup stained table into something cool. I wonder if it is possible to make a more rectilinear design as doilies are just not my thing.
