"Share Some Sugar" Dispenses Warm-Fuzzies & All The Borrowed Stuff You Could Ever Need

Things, stuff, clutter, junk....whatever "pet name" we have for the objects occupying our homes, I think that many might agree that we all end up accumulating more of it than we can ever actually use.
Pack rats may argue that "you never know when" you might have an opportunity in the future to use saved items and I understand their point, but there's a slight flaw in that reasoning -- can you actually locate the object that you finally need to use in all of that rubble you've collected?
One of my family members used to be quite fond of saving, saving, saving books/magazines/newspapers and other detritis for a rainy day, and before they realized the folly of their ways, piles morphed into stacks which then grew into leviathons that ended up engulfing the space that they could actually walk on.

Needless to say, things got out of control. Repurposing -- while a great way to do right by Mother Nature -- is nothing but a concept if you never actually get to implement it in the real world.
That's why the website Share Some Sugar is so clever, particularly for people who don't want to waste the resources they are fortunate enough to have but realize that it might be a realllllly long time before they get around to dusting them off.
If you're not going to get to your stuff in a timely manner, why not allow someone else the benefit of using it?
Helping consumers to locate neighborhood peeps who are happy to lend you the things that you need, Share Some Sugar is like a modern day warm-and-fuzzy grandma who always happens to have just the right item you need at the right time, sparing you from buying it brand spanking new at the store.

Reviewing their list of motivations -- from believing that it's right to be resourceful & care for the environment, being interested in converting neighborhoods into communities and spreading the 'sharing is caring' sentiment throughout the country -- makes me believe that have precisely the right heart and soul behind their online presence.
In addition to being able to access their database for stuff that you can borrow from local neighbors in your area, you can also post items that you'd like to share with people in need.
This is certainly a budget friendly concept, but I like the fact that even more than that, it enables people to re-evaluate what they really need to purchase, thereby spending less time at the store.

If it's a one-time-supply, it makes a lot more sense (literally and figuratively) to accept the kindness of a stranger and ideally pay it forward by offering up something that you own.
As a society, we've become so disconnected from community, sharing, caring and working together -- Share Some Sugar offers a gentle, convenient reminder that you don't need to take out your wallet to fulfill your needs or those of the person down the block.
Plus, there's a decidedly eco-friendly undertone to the whole system since you are recycling, repurposing, making the most of what you have, saving money, staying away from the shopping mall...basically being a turbo-greenie.
I don't know about you, but I'm going to make a point of putting several of my things on heavy rotation via Share Some Sugar...I'll tell you how it goes!
