Starter Jackets Upcycled Into "Finisher" Duffle Bags
Were you into the starter jacket fad of the early nineties?
Basically, they were satin or nylon jackets manufactured by the Starter Clothing Line, emblazoned with the names or logos of popular college or professional sports teams.
A lot of hip-hop artists and movie stars embraced the trend (as did mere mortals like my cousin) and it got to the point where people became such rabid fans that they would hunt them down at all costs and even resort to stealing them.
Well now there's a company (www.nomas-nyc.com) that sells what they refer to as finisher bags, constructed out of the very same starter jackets referenced above.
Hmmmm, makes you wonder how they got their hands on so many of those jackets to begin with (scratching goatee as I write this).
Anyhooooo, if you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket ($300 smackers to be exact), then you can choose from among 26 different team starter jacket-turned mini duffel bags and tote your belongings in cool 90s-meets-eco-friendly style.
Some of the teams of note include the Red Socks, Giants, Rockies, Hawks, Indians and the Vikings.
While I find it hard to believe that a starter jacket-turned-duffel even began its days as a $300 garment, I suppose that it takes a whole lot of pinning and sewing and flat out labor to make one of their creations, so there you go...do with it what you will!
At least they're recycling! Two power-to-the-people points for them!
