Repurposed DIY Thigh High Boot "Spats"

Are you a fashion hound with one eye peeled on the runways at all times?
If you're jumping up and down right now while enthusiastically screaming YES!! YES!!! then you've probably noticed an awful lot of thigh high boots navigating the catwalks this season.

Those babies, while incredibly fashion forward, can set your budget really backward if you're not very careful.
It's almost impossible to find new thigh high boots for under $1000 a pop, but again, part of the whole reason of being in the Greenwala community is thinking outside of the box.

Surely we can accomplish our end goal of being cutting edge eco-fashionistas without breaking the bank or causing harm to the animal population? Why yes we can.
That's where www.lovemaegan.com comes in -- she was the one who inspired me to write this post and illustrate it with her amazing how-to photos.

The LA based fashion design DIYer is a mastermind at creating all sorts of highly covetable fashions just by recycling and repurposing garments that are already in our closets (or that can be purchased on the cheap from thrift shops).
Here is her awesome photo tutorial that demonstrates how to create THIGH HIGH SPATS (using ankle or short boots you already own) in order to recreate that long, leggy boot look that is so trendy right now without being forced to mortgage your worm composter.

Remember -- if you want to make this a vegan fashion accessory, then forget the old leather skirt and seek out suitable eco-animal friendly alternatives instead.
Pleather thrift store skirt, anyone?
