What Do You Think About The Egg Industry's Practice Of Grinding Up "Unwanted" Male Chicks?

A video has been making the rounds on the internet lately, one that captures what goes on behind the scenes of our nation's egg industry operations.
The 4 minute clip, covertly taken by someone who had managed to get on the inside of Iowa's Hy-Line egg factory, shows many different scenes of disregard and outright cruelty for the all-too-brief lives of unwanted male chicks.
I am perhaps one of countless people who had no idea that male chicks were so disposable.
Apparently, it has been a long-standing industry practice to de-beak and then grind up newly born male chicks because they serve no purpose to an operation focused solely on generating as many cheap eggs for American consumers as feasibly possible.

The bottom line -- female chicks are the sole commodity due to their egg-laying abilities.
Despite our crazy medical and reproductive technologies, they have not yet found a way to breed chicken eggs that yield just female hens.
Consequently, 200 million unwanted male chicks are disposed in what industry reps refer to as "instant euthanasia" (aka "live grinding")
Greenwala community members -- please share your perspective on whether you think that this is acceptable or not.
Can you look past what the industry is doing and be a-okay with paying $1.00 for a dozen eggs?
Does this info make you want to give up eggs altogether?
