Recycled Suit Jacket Pillows Make Your Couch Look Dapper, Indeed!

The other day, I was rifling through my closet (bemoaning the fact that I have nothing to wear despite the fact that there are so many garments packed in there that I can often hear them groaning) and I realized how ridiculous it all really is.
I have suit jackets that were once snappy and stylish, but now they look so hopelessly dated that I can't bring myself to ever wear them again.

However, the practical "green" side of me can't allow them to go to waste, so they've been in a suspended state of animation, just praying for a chance in the near future that they can once again see the light.
The thing is...if all of us wore clothing that was a solid color (rather than marked with splashes of color, polkadots or plaids) then it seems as though we'd perpetually be in style, but I definitely don't think that the fashion industry would ever bite. Maybe a can of black spray paint might come in handy?

In the meantime, if you are faced with really cheesy patterns screaming out at you from your closet, maybe you'd consider doing what Etsy artist Hilary Cosgrove has done.
She calls 'em "retro"...I call them grand-daddy plaids...whatever you want to call 'em, Cosgrove transforms suit jackets with assorted tweeds and retina-searing patterns into dare I say "cool" letter pillows.

She creates whatever letter(s) of the alphabet you desire in one week's time for $65 each pillow, plus $6.00 shipping -- check out her Etsy shop here for further details: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29659026
I feel bad suggesting that this is a great DIY project to figure out on your own since I don't want to deter anyone from giving Cosgrove business, but if you know your way around a needle and thread, let's face it...this really IS a great DIY project to figure out on your own!
