Recycle a skateboard

Well, I thought I was going to have to throw out my brother's skateboard when a very creative person gave me this idea to recycle it.  Of course, there are other options. but this was the most creative!  I really liked this idea. Here's the instructions:

Here's the idea.  Turn the skateboard into a bulletin board.  Here's how.  You might even be able to use the wheel to your advantage. (not sure but maybe)  You will need:  Enough thick padding to cover your board Fabric of your choice (big enough to cover the board) - RECYCLE an old piece of clothing. Look for a great design that you love! A couple spools of colorful ribbon (again your choice) Try to use a color from the fabric that you are using so it will blend or pop whichever you prefer Scissors - to cut material and ribbon Hot glue and hot glue gun  Optional; border material - lace, fabric material (maybe try felt pieces) or even paper materials - colored construction paper, poster board, etc.  This part is up to you.  Just make your own border in different shapes or something similar and then hot glue it to the material.  Though the border is optional it can help hold the ribbon better if you are wrapping the edge of the border around to the back of the board and hot gluing it. Now, take the thick padding and wrap around the board and hot glue it to the back.  Then, take you choice of fabric and wrap around the board over the padding and hot glue it also. Take the ribbon and wrap in crisscross x's.  Start at the top on one side and wrap at one angle all the way down and hot glue to the back.  Do this again and this time wrap at the opposite angle. It will make small crisscross x's by the time you get to the bottom and hot glue the ribbon to the back.  Don't cut your ribbon until you are at the bottom and back of the board.  And, make sure you (dot) the hot glue in strategic places along the back of the ribbon to help hold it to the board. Otherwise, the ribbon will slide off. If you decide to use a border, make the border and attach and it will be mostly complete. Now, post some stuff to your board.  Here are some ideas to post to your "skate bulletin board":  Pictures - Slide some into the x's and use some tacks if you need to.  To do lists, Schedules Inspirational sayings or poems Weekly menus Shopping lists Reminder notes for projects, etc. You can even attach some pretty single stem flowers around the edge for decoration.  Be creative!!  Once complete, you can stand it up against a wall (maybe you could brace the wheel with something sturdy) or set it on its side on a table.  Or if you can get someone to remove the wheel, then maybe you can attach some type of hanger to the back and hang it on the wall.  (Make sure this is sturdy though)  Don't want anyone to get hurt!!  Good luck!! Hope you like this idea!!
