I just read that in 2008, TerraCycle had $6.5 million in sales and they anticipate twice that amount in 2009. Plus, they're expanding into Brazil/England and they're launching a reality show called "Garbage Moguls" on the National Geographic Channel.
For people who are new to the TerraCycle thing, they actually PAY consumers for wine corks, snack wrappers, soda bottles and juice pouches (among other "waste" materials. All you have to do is sign up with TerraCycle and they'll either tell you where a nearby collection center is or they'll send you a free shipping box or bag. Just log onto terracycle.net, click "Our Revolution" and then "Collect Waste For Money."
One of Greenwala's members, Bob Kurz, recently suggested that all of us take a reusable bag with us during outdoor excursions so we can pick up recyclables -- http://www.greenwala.com/my_groups/all/87-EVERY-DAY-IS-EARTH-DAY/topics/312 THIS would be a great incentive to get our butts in gear!
