Recycled Materials Stockings

Each year I make most of my Christmas gifts. This tradition is green because it reduces time spent driving, packaging and overall consumption of "things." It also allows me to reuse materials that would otherwise be tossed. This year I made stockings for many friends and family members.

The first two stockings were made of old sweaters. The white stocking was made of an old sheet. The wreath design with the Polish "Merry Christmas" was made through a Citra-Solv transfer process. Citra-Solv is an eco friendly all natural cleaning solvent made with oranges that reacts with photo copy ink to create a permanent transfer onto fabric. This stocking is lined with green velvet from an old skirt.
