Cat Tree Revolution
Back to contest entries
We own two cats: Rigby and Puff. We rescued them when they were only 4wks old. Since that time they have become an integral part of our life. They inspired us to rescue litters of kittens from around the community. As you can see, the kittens haven't quite figured out how to reach Rigby. This is only one of our 3 cat trees we have. All were made from salvaged wood and remnant carpet. It is the ultimate recycled cat tree. While our cats are indoor only, we take them to the lake on their harnesses and let them explore the outside safely. We get quite a lot of stares, but it's worth it for the cats. Throughout the year and especially in winter time, I grow wheatgrass under grow lights for them. I have to grow them in covered rabbit cages so I can keep the cats out until the grass is long enough. Then, they are aloud to lounge, sleep and of course eat the grass. While they are munching on one "plot" of grass, I already have a second one started so when they've mowed down one, they have a fresh patch to move to. Whenever we can, we recycle materials and use them for our pets. I collect chicken feathers from a local farm and fashion them into cat toys. Our cats, despite being cats, keep us active and creative. We love them very much.
