Guffly Finds Good Stuff for Good Living
Back to contest entries
If eco-friendly & style made a lovechild, they'd call it Guffly.
In February 2008, Jordan Contreras and Chanell Scott started an eco-friendly blog, called Guffly, after finding it difficult to maintain an eco-friendly lifestyle while meeting a desire to remain hip and fashionable. Guffly quickly garnered a following of trendy, eco-friendly consumers with a conscious. They quickly learned through listening to their audience and other research that their followers were in the same predicament they were - though the eco-friendly product market is growing, many items are not appealing to the young, stylish, and urban demographic. They wanted to find good stuff or "guff" as they call it.
A lot of research, even more hard work, and a crisp business plan combined with the entrepreneurial spirit led to the birth of Guffly as the one eco-friendly product per day online retail store and community on August 11, 2009. Each day, Guffly features goods ranging from personal accessories, home goods, clothing, office & desk accessories, to pet accessories. They have made it their job to find only the most stylish and creative unsuspectingly eco friendly and fair trade products out there. They happen to think that making stylish and modern purchasing decisions doesn't have to mean using excess resources, filling up landfills, or relying on unfair labor. Guffly searches high and low so that you can bet their green products are stylish, fun, and attractive - eco stylish if you will.
Seeking unique opportunities and a chance to be a part of the city's renewal, Jordan and Chanell located Guffly's office in downtown Detroit. They currently have two employees and several interns that work hard on their team. Guffly also welcomes three canine mascots into their office regularly. The team works to provide stellar customer service, unique products, and new ideas on how to make Guffly the best it can be.
