Hello, I'm Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Thursday, August 5th:
Marsh, the global insurance brokerage, has received the UK Corporate Social Responsibility Program award at the 2010 British Insurance Awards. The company was recognized for its "Helping People and Communities at Risk" program, a combination of employee volunteerism, matched giving, and sustainability activities. Marsh also provides major support to its charity of the year, CLIC Sargent.
Volcom, the skate and surf apparel company, is teaming up with the National Coalition for the Homeless for the second year to recycle jeans and help clothe the needy. Volcom's "Give Jeans a Chance" campaign allows customers to drop off a pair of their used jeans of any brand at Volcom stores through September 30th. The NCH will then distribute the donated denim to the homeless. Donors will receive a free Volcom hat, pin, or sticker, and entry into a contest for other Volcom prizes.
