Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Friday, August 13th: Proctor and Gamble has awarded 10 scholarship grants to women students in Ghana who were chosen from its Always Care scholarship initiative. Always Care is part of Live, Learn, and Thrive, the company’s corporate responsibility program which focuses on the development of children in need from ages 1-13 years. Always Care is a feminine hygiene and puberty education program in secondary schools in Ghana. Proctor and Gamble will continue the awards on an annual basis. Call2Action and Ocean have teamed up to save the bluefin tuna. Overfishing is driving the species to extinction, and one of only two known breeding grounds of the fish, the Gulf of Mexico, has been affected by the BP oil spill. The Oceana campaign includes a video shot on location with Adrien Grenier of HBO‘s “Entourage,” and is hosted by Call2Action’s “Spark,” a widget which combines video with action tools. Oceana is the world’s largest international ocean conservation program, and Call2Action develops social marketing tools for non-profits.
