Me

I am definately as Green Chic as I can be. I decorate Shabbey Chic first of all and I use so much of what I find in peoples garbage. Its all so reusable and I am skilled with power tools so I can make it come back to life. I do it for my clients too. I am also an organic gardner, I also compost all kitchen and garden scraps, I collect rain water to water everything. I fenced in my large property myself with old fencing that 2 neighbors were,  getting rid of. I was able to saw away the rotted parts and added hardware where needed. I painted it with no VOC paint to rid it of the old mold stains. I bought a 9'W x 6'H used window to help bring light and warmth into my livingroom. I myself crawled into my attic space and tore out the 50 yr. old insulation and reinsulated with R30 insulation. I also did my garage. I have planted native perenials throughout my 1/2 acre property to save on water and expense of rebuying annually. I feed my Husky only home cooked natural foods. I try to eat things as natural as possible. I changed all 85 bulbs in my house to CFLs and I allow the grass clippings to stay to help nurish the soil. I planted oak trees to help block the hot summer heat from coming into the house and I installed a manual awning on the west facing deck. I use soy based insullating foam in any cracks and I installed low flow faucet adaptors. I covered my water heater with an insulating blanket and I lowered the temp to 120. I cover my boiling pots to reduce evaporation and I only use non toxic cleaning products. I'm sure there is more to add but I think it's enough to mention for now.

I laud your effort to be a 'green chic' and you live a low carbon footprint life. I have similar interests and I can very well relate to what you are doing. I hope more of us continue to be inspired to do the right things for the environment. All the best to you in your endeavor to be a 'green' citizen.
