Seventh Generation: Chemical-Free Products & Wisdom For a Sustainable Future
Img_5353

Seventh Generation provides household products made from better things that help families create safer homes and lead healthier lives. The Vermont-based company offers mothers and others petrochemical-free household cleaners and laundry products made from natural biodegradable ingredients, recycled plastic and paper necessities, chlorine-free diapers and other baby alternatives, and organic cotton feminine care items. Not only do the company's products work as well or better than their conventional counterparts, they get the job done without the hazardous toxins or virgin ingredients other companies use.

These solutions protect the Earth and the people living here from harm. But they aren't the only thing that makes Seventh Generation a company unlike any other. Another big difference can be found in the company's work to make the world a cleaner and more sustainable place. Every day its staff is working overtime to educate people about the environmental challenges we face and the many things we can all do to have a positive impact on the future. Whether they're publishing original how-to green living articles and answering customer questions on their web site or offering useful ideas and explaining key issues on their two company blogs, this is a company whose people are walking the talk in every way.

It's also a company that frequently takes things into its own hands with initiatives that draw attention to pressing problems and urge decision-makers to do something about them. The latest of these is the Million Baby Crawl, a company campaign focused on reforming America's badly outdated and ineffective chemical laws and preventing any further use of dangerous materials in consumer products. It's a fun way to create some much needed visibility for a very serious issue, and its videos of babies marching toward Washington have generated a big response.

In addition to work like this, Seventh Generation is also showing other companies how they can become leaner and greener. Its many internal sustainability programs, which are detailed in its annual corporate responsibility report, are intended to form a working model other businesses can emulate as they strive to "green" their operations and become more environmentally friendly.

All of this makes Seventh Generation more than a just company providing products that help us tread lightly on the Earth. It's a company dedicated to doing all it possibly can in every possible way to ensure the safest and healthiest future for the next seven generations and beyond.
