Do You Participate In A Car Sharing Program? Naysayers and Yaysayers, Please Share Your Thoughts!
The idea of jumping in a car with another person who also needs to get from point "A" to point "B" (in roughly the same vicinity at roughly the same time) is definitely practical.
As artist Heidi Wallinger demonstrates in the following illustrations, it sure does look a lot more aesthetically pleasing...but it also does so much more.

It theoretically alleviates the rampant congestion on our roads and makes better use of our resources.
Fuel is consumed in a more strategic manner and since there are less vehicles on the road, far less CO2 is being released into our atmosphere....plus you're saving money in the long run.

Sounds super...so I'm wondering why more people aren't doing it?
I'm sure that none of us enjoy urban congestion on our roadways...it's definitely not fun getting stuck in a sea of barely moving cars on the road to nowhere...so what is it about car pooling that is unappealing?

Is the "stranger factor" off-putting? We go to bars and strike up conversations with people we don't know all the time, so why is this any different?? It's in a car instead of a bar.
Does it feel too constrictive? Too regimented? Do you have any thoughts on how to make it more appealing so that more people jump on board?
