Back in the day, people used toothpicks to remove the remnants of their latest meal from their pearly whites, but now they've become a lot more indispensable in culinary applications.

Whether you use them to test your baked goods or to skewer hors d' oeuvres, those little bits of wood really add up over time.

It's a problem because that they are a one-time-use item that we end up throwing away.

Traditionally made out of birch wood, they do end up biodegrading over time, but rather than contribute to more unnecessary deforestation, wouldn't you be interested in finding a cool alternative?

I thought so.

Then how about using pieces of raw spaghetti (when you're making skewers) and thin pretzel sticks (when you're offering bite-sized yummies)?

Finally, you can have your toothpick and eat it, too!!
