I know what you're thinking -- "Don't we have enough bird condos in the world?" but the answer NO, we definitely don't have enough super-duper wind and (probably) hurricane resistant terracotta roofed bird houses in the world.

Don't our fine feathered friends deserve the very same high quality housing materials that we benefit from, especially if those materials would have ended up in the junk pile?

Wait a second...you're saying that this is one of the first times that Japanese terracotta roof tiles have been recycled? Um-hmmm.

Artist Tomoko Azumi, along with a team of fellow sustainable, craft-focused designers going by the name of "TEN," recognized that they could turn those tiles into something practical and kind of decorative, too...just with a little tweak here and there.

They water-jet cut each terracotta roof tile to the proper size and then attached it to their laser etched wooden board Victorian style birdhouse structures.

The result of their efforts is a collection of smart looking bird houses that can either be mounted onto the wall of your home or placed on top of a supportive pole to operate as a free-standing unit.

Birds everywhere are going to be quite pleased that they no longer have to batten down the hatches quite as much when the winter winds come rolling through.
