Favorite_Cause_Giveaway_12110.jpgHey Greenwalas!

With the Earthquake in Haiti, people from  all walks of life are joining together to give whatever they can via donations or volunteering to the victims of the devastating eathquake.

Red Cross, UNICEF, Yele Haiti, and many other well known organizations are leading the way, but they are just a handful of the 100s of foundations that support various other causes across the world.

Our Causes Page here on Greenwala has over 50 different causes for you to be a part of! From large organizations like the Red Cross and Greenpeace to some more unique causes like One Laptop for Child or Locks of Love, where you can join a movement, learn about the causes and much more.

So to help give back we want to know what your favorite causes are?  If you tell us your favorite cause in a comment below you could not only win $25 for yourself but we will also donate $25 in your name to that cause!

It is that simple!

You can enter once but there are simple ways for you to gain multiple entries in the giveaway.

If your cause is not listed on the causes page and you add that cause to the site you get 3 additional entires!  For every person that joins the cause you add during the giveaway period you will gain one additional entry as well.

So once again here are the simple rules:

Required:

- Tell us your favorite cause in a comment below and you will gain one entry (+1)

Optional Ways to Earn More Entries:

- Add your cause to the Causes Page you will gain 3 additional entries (+3)

- For every member that joins the cause you added you will gain one additional entry (+1 per member who joins cause)

So if you post your cause in a comment (+1), add it to the causes page (+3) and 5 people join (+5), you will have a total 9 entries! So the more you spread the word about your favorite cause the more entries you will have to win!

The Giveaway Period Ends January 29th at 6PM PST.

NOTES:

1) The $25 for you is to show our appreciation for participating in the giveaway, but if you choose to donate that amount we will make a full donation of $50 to your cause in your name.

2) Any duplicated comments will be ineligible for the giveaway

3) All Greenwala Terms and Conditions apply

4) No purchase necessary. Giveaway is open to members of Greenwala.com who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia or Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), 18 years or older, at the time of entry, and have completed account registration prior to the end of the giveaway.

    This is a great idea!

I just added Holly Unites for Haiti! They are doing some much for the Earthquake victims and need all the support they can get via awareness and donations.

Here's a great organization to support: Legacy Through Living (LTG)

    http://www.legacythroughgiving.org

By supporting this one organization, you in turn support many organizations on the front line helping the local communities. LTG helps smaller charitable organizations challenged with limited staffing and resources with their fund raising efforts.

You can be a giving angel several ways:
    1. Be a sponsor at their 4/3/10 fund raising gala.
    2. Buy raffle tickets for some great prizes
    3. Buy tickets to the gala and have a grand time while supporting numerous organizations. http://www.legacythroughgiving.org

My favorite cause is the Hunger Site! As a full time student, I dont have the resources to donate money (let alone buy my books) so an organization that allows me to help without having to dish out money is a gem. Daily clicks on Hunger Sites website prompts different sponsers to fund different causes.

Check out the cause I made to see more info and get involved: http://www.greenwala.com/causes/69-The-Hunger-Site

GlobalGiving is a wonderful way to support community-based projects all over the world. http://www.greenwala.com/causes/70-GlobalGiving

You can search by region, theme, or amount needed, and after you've made a donation, they send you updates from the field (often with photos).

Recent projects I've supported have included: one that frees Nepali girls from bondage and sends them to school instead, and one that pays local women in Burkina Faso to cook a midday meal for schoolgirls so they can concentrate better in their lessons.

I love Kiva! I've lent out hundreds of dollars on the site & so far I've always been paid back 100%. You can help out AND get your money back. A win-win situation. You also get to see and read about the people you help so very personal and funds are handled with more accountability.
