So over the weekend I saw a Toyota Prius commercial stating that it has been on the market for 10 years! Boy how time flies!
Hybrids such as the Prius are sometimes used as the butt of jokes in movies or TV, but this weekend the Prius (along with coulpe of other hybrids) seem to be getting their 15 minutes or more of fame.
On Saturday I was dragged to the theaters to watch Little Fockers for a friends birthday (yes pretty much what I expected, bunch of recycled jokes), but the Prius and a few of it's friends were very visible in the movie. The lead character Gaylord Focker (Ben Stiller) drives a Prius, while his rival (Owen Wilson) actually drives a Tesla! In addition to these EVs, a couple of hybrid Chevys can be spotted being used as "high-end" golf carts.
Despite the movie not being that good I left with a really good feeling, knowing that Hollywood continues to push the use of green products including EVs and Hybrids.

Then last night as I decided to catch up on some shows I had on my DVR, I got a nice surprise when the prize for this week's Top Chef: All-Stars Quickfire Challenge was a brand new 2011 Toyota Prius. I believe Top Chef gave a away a Prius before, but never as a "Quickfire" prize. Mike Isabella was able to make the best dish in 8 minutes and 37 seconds to win the Prius and was safe from elimination.
Product placement is very important for both movies and TV shows and it is just great to see Hybrids and EVs getting their 15 minutes and more of fame!
Keep up the good work Hollywood!
