For artsy types, frugalistas, DIYers and garden variety greenies, being able to pocket a rainbow of totally free paint chips at the local home improvement store without experiencing the normal side effect of guilt is somewhat like plowing into an all-you-can-eat buffet of happy.

Oh, the colors, not to mention the art, design and recycling possibilities!

As we contemplate how and precisely what projects we’re going to create with these ripe recycling canvases, a few months go by…and then a season passes…and then somehow we have to practice writing a new year on all of the checks we mail out to cover our bills.
Time always manages to just slip on by, but no one worth half their weight in DIY craftiness wants to waste such coveted colorful gems on any old project.

Book marks are just way too obvious…and paint chip portraits? Been there, done that.
While they’re great for collage applications, surely there must be a better way to give recycled paint chips a more illustrious place in the spotlight?

Ummm-hmmmm, there sure is.
You’re going to be mighty psyched that procrastination has plagued you up until now because this project idea, conjured up by Poland’s Emocja Studio is quite simple the bomb....er, the blob to be more accurate.

Their ‘blop’ lamp shade is comprised of…you guessed it…a myriad of harmoniously toned paint chips simply anchored together using adjustable plastic rivets that can be expanded or contracted depending on what type of final product you want to achieve, flowing, restrained, meticulously organized…it’s all up to the DIYer.

The effect , as you can see, is simply stunning (if you happen to like your eye candy in full-throttle doses).

While this tasty creation requires a whole lotta hand cutting and hole-punching so that the assembly process can be cranked out, it is well worth the time when you can proudly ogle your new funky-cool creation every time the sun dips down into the horizon at the end of a long day.

A word of caution: make sure that you only dress up a lamp that is fitted with a cool burning compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) in order to avoid any potential fire hazard!
