Beauty Benefits of Wheatgrass Juice

When focusing on natural beauty, you can't just focus on what you put on the outside.  What you put on the inside is as or more important.  Natural beauty products can't compensate for bad nutrition.

800px-WheatGrassJuicing.jpgWheat grass is one food that will benefit both your health and your appearance.  However, you want to be sure you are drinking the juice, not eating the whole leaf as our bodies can't digest the whole leaf.  If our bodies can't digest the leaf, it can't extract the nutrients and you're just wasting your time and money.

To get the maximum nutritional benefits you want to make sure that the juice is extracted in a manner with little to no heat applied or created.  It's also important  to look for wheatgrass that's grown outside, not inside in trays. Wheatgrass grown indoors in trays can contain mold and can't grow to the sprouting stage, where it has the most nutrients.

The nutritional benefits of wheatgrass are pretty well known, but here are some ways wheatgrass may benefits your appearance:

  • Eyes - wheatgrass juice is said to brighten and whiten the whites of your eyes
  • Acne - Because wheatgrass juice is said to aid in detoxification it may help reduce acne and congestion under the skin.
  • Skin - when applied to the skin directly it can help relieve itching, soothe sunburn and act as a disinfectant.  It can also be used to help soothe cuts, burns, scrapes, rashes, poison ivy, athlete's foot, insect bites, boils, sores, open ulcers, tumors, and so on
  • Hair - when applied directly to the scalp before shampoo it can help mend damaged hair and alleviate itchy, scaly, scalp conditions.
  • Anti-aging - can help turn grey hair it's natural color again, can rejuvenate aging cells, and tighten loose and sagging skin
  • Legs - Because wheatgrass juice cleans the blood and helps with circulation it can help reduce vericose veins and leg ulcers
  • Teeth - Wheatgrass juice can help prevent tooth decay, and heal & tighten gums
If you don't have a wheatgrass juicer (you can't usually use the same juicers you use for other vegetables) you can still get juice in a couple of ways.  In some health food stores you can get wheatgrass juice frozen in juice cubes.  This is simple, but it can be expensive.  Depending on the store 1 box can cost between $13-$15, and depending on how much you take will only last about 3-6 days.

You can also get wheat grass juice in powder form.  This is great if you don't have a juicer, or for travelling.  If buying a powder, be sure to read the label and make sure it's dried juice, not the whole leaf.  You will pay more for the juce, but as I mentioned before, your body can't digest the whole leaf.  So, even if this product is cheaper, you're wasting your money.  And again, make sure it's grown outdoors, not indoors in trays.

Raw, organic wheatgrass juice powder can be found on it's own, or combined with other deeps greens such as spirulina, (and soon to add chlorella) and other grass juices such as in Miessence DeepGreen Alkalising Superfood.

To get these benefits one dose won't do it.  You need to incorporate wheatgrass juice into your diet daily.  Some benefits might not be seen for a few months.  But, it's well worth it!
