Travelers and runners, meet your new best friend.  Able Planet's New True Fidelity Sound Isolating Sport Earphones are the answer to great sound in a smaller package.  I wasn't expecting much, having already been spoiled by Able Planet's Noise Canceling Headphones.  I put them on, turned on some Bossa Nova, and holy cow!  The sound is fantastic.  They are so comfortable, you can hardly feel them and they stay in.  

I've never been able to keep ear bud style headphones in my ears unless I keep still, so they haven't been all that practical for me.  But the big headphones aren't especially practical for the traveling minimalist because hey do take up some space in your bag.  For the runner or athlete, they're way too bulky and not an option.  While the earphones don't sound quite as good to me as the large headphones and they don't block out surrounding noise as well, the trade off is worth it.  They make traveling more enjoyable and exercise more fun--a luxurious and affordable must have.

They fit in the palm of your hand, so you can slip them into the smallest of bags and take them everywhere.  They would fit into the stash pocket of your coat, and if you have a nano or shuffle iPod, you never have to be without music because it's all right there in your pocket.  This is wonderful when you find yourself in a waiting room, on the bus, etc. They're great with an iPad to watch movies, allowing you to hear dialog while helping to block out background noise. 

They come in aesthetically pleasing gift worthy packaging making them appropriate for the holidays.   I love the little velvet bag with Able Planet's silver logo stars which are a perfect stocking stuffer for the traveler, athlete, or teenager on your list.  Buy a pair for yourself though, because any music loving person with an iPod has to have these.
