Because it's the holidays, there's a very good chance you're flying somewhere on an airplane. The process can be gruling and strenuous because of the amount of people traveling. And it can be expensive - all those fees add up. So the last thing you need is to board an airplane with an empty stomach and realize that the food options are unhealthy and overpriced. Here's the solution - pack your own healthy snacks. If you're stumped on what to bring, consider some of these great ideas from Facebook & Twitter users:
- Cashew, raisin, walnut mix... (Mecca Jan Lewis)
- Cinnamon toasted almonds. (Christopher Pennell)
- Cranberries, almonds, & some kind of whole grain cereal. The bigger the cereal size the better! (@GodsDreamsForMe)
- Dried fruit and nuts (Jennifer Westfall Kee)
- Fruit salad, hummus and pita bread (@Kameishia)
- Goji berries, dark chocolate, & bananas! (Ami Baio)
- Kale chips (Katala Constantine)
- KIND bar or almonds (@ultimatestamina)
- Larabars (Sandra Sanchez)
- Pecans (Tracy Hepler)
- PROBARs (@bvp663)
- Raw Revolution bar, oranges, and toasted seaweed (@ecovegangal)
- Rice crackers (@laalicia)
- Vega Bars (Marina James)
- Buy nuts, fruit, and trail mix in bulk and bring your own bags to be ultra eco friendly (and save money)
- Keep in mind that some people on the plane will have food allergies. Natala commented, "it can be deadly if someone opens a bag of nuts or has a peanut butter sandwich. I know it's a pain for people, but with all of the kids that have severe nut allergies, it can be a really dangerous situation - peanuts specifically are an airborne allergy...when people have had nuts we have asked them if they could not eat them, and we offer to buy them a different snack."
