It seems like Gwyneth Paltrow's diet is always in the news - once she was almost a vegetarian, next she was macrobiotic, and recently journalists say she gave up her macro ways to eat deep fried food. Regardless of the specifics, Gwyneth seems pretty tuned into her health and often offers tips on her site GOOP. Though it's usually not vegetarian, the site does support Meat Free Monday and there's a great post on why.
For her New Years newsletter, Gwyneth provided instructions for a health cleanse to help readers loose excess holiday-related weight. She consulted a detox specialist and he provided a week-long plan that is gentle on the body, including recipes, yoga, and skin advice. The detox is free of gluten, as well as dairy, processed foods (including soy), fatty nuts, nightshades, condiments, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine. While this might seem like a tough regiment to follow, keep in mind it's only for a week and will result in weight loss, extra energy, and an all around great mood. There are a few recipes that involve chicken and fish, so if you're a vegetarian simply replace them with a protein-rich gluten-free dish (like quinoa and veggies).
Whether or not you choose to do the detox for seven days you can find some excellent recipes and meal plan ideas in this newsletter, most of which take less than 15 minutes to prepare. Whether or not Gwyneth is still following the macrobiotic diet as strictly as she used to, she has clearly learned a thing or two about healthy foods.
