A new food guideline is was just released from the government but instead of the pyramid we all grow so used to over the last few decades, there has been an update. Its a plate:

Its a guideline to help you and your children control their portions while defining how much of each you should eat at each mean. The majority of your plate are fruits and veggies! With the recommended daily allowance of fruits and veggies at 9-13 per adult (more for normal men less for normal women). Plant proteins are recognized on the chart under unique proteins as well. Grains should be at least 1/2 whole grain. As various posts on Greenwala tout, its important to have a plant based diet for good health. Eating meat and fats in moderation, meaning a couple times a month or less is a way to move toward a complete plant based diet.
