A piece of military technology has gone green in recent innovations. Not only is this product eco-friendly, it is portable and a great experiment in transportation for our military. What I'm talking about is the United States Military's Paratrooper foldable bike.
This bike is a hybrid as well as diesel-electric vehile, using duel systems of better energy. This is so because it uses half of the amount of fuel compared to some of it competitor car models, such as the Hummer or the Cadillac Escalade. The Paratrooper also has two lithium-ion battery packs that act much like the electricity of hybrids, when it brakes it recharges itself. Because of this, the Shadow can run 75 miles compared to the Paratrooper bike at 20 miles with diesel.
Here are some more of the Paratrooper's great and eco-friendly features:
Their unique folding design does not break the structural frame of the bike. Yet it folds almost in half in 30 seconds, without the use of tools, while weighing in at 29 lbs (13kg). Otherwise, it is a standard 26 inch wheeled mountain bike, with front suspension and disk brakes, combined with 24 speed Shimano Deore gearing. $645 USD.
