Are bugs one of your pet peeves? When they fly around your face, you can't help but swat them away. But be careful when you enter the region of Eindhoven, because these Apple Bigs and Vernissage happen to be the bugs that create masterful works of art. This is exhibit uses a main material, which you wouldn't expect to see on any display in any museum. This material happens to be woven by these, and from these native bugs. This exhibit comes from a design team named Edhv. 'The Art of Insects' truly encaptures the beauty of nature, and doesn't use harsh chemicals found in paint and other art supplies to produce these works of art. Based on the premise that art should be organic and reactive to its surroundings, this collection is truly "green inspiring."
However, the bugs aren't responsible for all the work. The designers use an experimental technology tracking software to map out the specialized movements of the insects to create this new medium of artwork.
These pieces of art are somewhat graph-like. These designs are based on the species of insect that is being patterned, as well as the bug's size, shape, or obstacles in its way as it travels throughout its day.
Here's what Edhv had to say about their new, innovative collection:
"Edhv little critters' finished artwork is on display as posters at the Design by Performance exhibition at Z33 Centre for Contemporary Art and Design in Hasselt, Belgium until the end of May. But don't think they're just about entomology - Edhv proclaims that they do not seek out to specialize in anything specific, but rather that they are an organization filled with a variety of creative disciplines lending themselves to cutting edge processes. The studio's strong focus on research and concept is a welcome invitation to break established rules and boundaries before tangible design is even considered."
