Katy Perry, a well-known singer and performer, was caught glowing at a red carpet event. Walking down the stairs with date in arm, Ms. Perry showed off a glowing dress, complete with LED lights running veritcal down the seams of the gown. She flashed this inspiring dress at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit at the Metropolitain Museum of Art last year. Complete with ruffles and a seductive slit showing all leg, Katy Perry stunned the party go-er's with not only a dress that lit up, but a dress that showed a rainbow epitour of colors. These lights are LED, saving on electricty. CuteCircuit is responsible for the making of this dress, and should be proud of the stunning work they have done. And because this dress obviously has to move with the singer, there was a built-in switch placed in the comfort of the bra.
There was another version of this dress created by Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz, dazzling as much as the one Katy Perry wears. This dress, however, has dotted LED lights all over it rather than a straight vertical light outlining the dress. How many dotted lights on the whole dress? Final count is 24,000!
Katy Perry gave some insight of her own on her futurstic gown:
"I feel like I really have to represent those girls that just go for it and do their own thing and, you know, have their own bit of spontaneity and self confidence. I think sometimes in fashion it can get a little stuffy so I wanted to lighten up!"
