Jackie Christie, sought after Fashion Designer, model/actress and bestselling author, has been awarded the 2009 community service award for her philanthropy and her bestselling book, 'Proud To Be a Colored Girl,' which also has a hit song titled: 'Colored Girl' recorded by renowned recording artist Bobby Tinsley, as well as a 100% ECO friendly clothing line by the same name. The ceremony was held at the coveted Avalon theatre in Hollywood, California and marks history as Jackie becomes the first NBA Wife to win the award.
Christie was also chosen to be host of this year's Black Women in Film series at the Hollywood film festival and recently joined the prominent Alliance of Women Filmmakers organization. She is also executive producer of a hit BET reality TV show and a comedy DVD, and she is not done uniting women from all walks of life around the world with her Colored Girl movement. She is currently in pre production for the screen play Title: 'Proud To Be a Colored Girl' due out in 2010.
"The motivation behind 'Colored Girl' is to instill a strong sense of pride, self love and equality in women of all ages. The age old stereotype is that colored stands for African American women, but in actuality every nationality of women the world over has a color to their skin. "In my film I plan to showcase the beauty and strength in all women, no matter what color they are. A colored girl can be someone viewed as beautiful. I want to remove the stigma, and unite all women the world over," said Christie.
"I'm honored to have been awarded this very special award from the HOLLYWOOD FAME AWARDS, I'm living my mission in life," states Jackie Christie. "My mission is to help, unite, and inspire all people. Doing the colored girl project through me and my Husband Doug's Infinite Love Foundation, has not only been heartwarming for me but an honor to see the smile on women's faces after they read the book or listen to the song or even get one of my environmentally friendly t-shirts, it's beautiful to witness," says Jackie Christie.
