Why Does the Food Network NOT Have a Vegan/Vegetarian Show Yet??

The Food Network of course is the largest food channel on TV and has over 150 shows on it's network of channels. However, not even one show is focused on the Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle?

Vegan and vegetarian contestants have shown up recently on some of their cooking competition shows, but no show focused on cooking vegan or vegetarian.  This is actually quite confusing since there is a recent trend in mainstream culture for these lifestyles.

At the end of the day for TV it comes down to money and yes they can only make and broadcast shows that earn them  the other green. Although I know this is how Hollywood and TV usually work, but I really think it is about time.

I know I am not the only one wondering this because you can check out a great post by our friends at Ecorazzi who have the same questions and list other sites asking the same questions over and over with minimal response.

The post also has some cool show ideas, so check them out at Ecorazzi.

    That's interesting. I didn't know that! It's definitely time for a plant-based diet show :)

I thought they did. Isn't the winner of the Next Food Network Star a vegetarian Indian based chef? I think her name is Aarti and the name of the show is Aarti Party. I did see an Iron Chef episode that was all vegetarian a couple of weeks ago - Broccoli was the secret ingredient!

Aarti did win Next Food Network Star and is Indian but definitely not a vegetarian chef as one of her winning dishes was a Shrimp Curry. :)

Yes I did watch the Iron Chef Broccoli challenge and is good to see at least some programming is starting to hit the network.
