_DSC3781.jpgWhy juice?

Juicing veggies and fruits gives our digestive systems a well deserved rest. It allows it to slow down, recover and heal. At the same time our organs, tissues, and cells cleanse out toxins that have invaded our bodies. It will help balance our alkaline levels so we are less acidic. Over acidity is the cause of many health challenges.

Other possible benefits include reduced inflammation, more regulated and healthy bowel movementsreversal and prevention of illnesses and diseasesome weight-loss and increased energy levels.

A few wonderful ladies were kind enough to share their juicing recipes with us. Each one of them are affecting change for our environment, animals, and/or plant-based nutrition education. Thank you for all the work you do and the benefits we reap from it all.

Combo1: Ginger Lime Juice

1-2 cucumbers, peeled if not organic

6-8 stalks of celery

1-2 apples (use Granny Smith for a tart juice, peeled red ones for a sweeter juice)

½-1 inch piece ginger (this is really based on your taste, I love it gingery!)

1-2 limes, peeled

Pour into tall glass and enjoy immediately!

Combo 2: Juicer Cracker Juice

5 leaves kale (plus any kale stalks left from salads, smoothies, etc.)

1-2 cucumbers (depends on how much juice you want)

6 stalks celery

1 large carrot (scrubbed, but not peeled)

1 large beet, peeled

1-2 apples (depends how sweet you want it!)

Push all ingredients through juicer in order listed (alternate the cucumber and celery). Pour into tall glass and enjoy immediately. This is a favorite because I then use the left-over pulp to make crackers in the dehydrator. Save up the pulp from 2-3 juices, which will allow you to make a large batch of “juicer crackers”. Simply add ground flax, olive oil, and various herbs/spices to create moist, spreadable dough. Spread onto teflex sheets, flip onto mesh screens once the top is dry enough to do this. No waste, all good!

Combo 3: Blender Juice

Don’t have a juicer? If you have a Vitamix or Blentec, you can still make juice. Like this one:

¼ large watermelon, chopped

½ inch piece ginger

2 limes

Blend and enjoy. So refreshing. Try adding mint leaves instead of ginger. If you do have a juicer, add the juice of one beet to the blender. It will look so vibrant.

What's your favorite juicing combo?
