So with time all technology usually gets better, smaller and cheaper. It seems like this formula is no different for solar panels.
Nowadays it is becoming more affordable for home owners to have solar panels installed on their roofs. The more tech savvy owners do not even need an installer.
However, all this might change with panels becoming even cheaper and even easier to install. According to Clarian Technologies, they claim their new solar appliance will be what changes how homeowners look and install solar panels.
Clairian claims a typical homeowner can install the plug-in solar appliance in about and hour and their base model will sell for only $799 while the high end model will run about $4,000. This is still significantly less than the approximate $10K it could cost to install standard panels.
There is a little drawback as the larger appliance generates about 150 kWh/month and the average household uses over 900 kWh/month.You might not be able to cover the full electric usage for your household but a 15% reduction can add up over time.
Another cool feature is the WiFi capabilities of the appliance allowing it to be used with energy efficiency software so you can manage your usage.
So what do you think? Do you think this idea will work??
