sole-power-tile-roof-bg.jpgBeautiful Solar Roof Tiles

The curved design of the tile allows for greater air circulation under and around the tiles, helping to prevent degradation in performance caused by the region's desert heat. http://www.solardaily.com/reports/SRS_Energy_Installs_Sole_Power_Tile_System_999.html

At last!   This makes so much sense...every area exposed to the sun is a potential energy capture source and now...we can have beautiful roof tiles as well.  Things are accellerating so fast.  Every day I see new innovations on the market - mostly overseas though.

rooftile_solar_house.jpgThis is a major shift from the flat panels.  Here's a predicition.  Next we will have thin solar film on our windows that not only reduce the sun's heat coming in but also generate electricity.  Then solar cars.  Look at all the exposed metal - the hoods, the roof, the trunk and even the panelled doors...someone will come through with this soon.   Getting off our addiction to oil dependency may not be as difficult or as slow as we think.  Wow...a true win, win.  What an exciting innovative time we are living in. Go Solar!

This is great and they look good too. I wonder how they work if a repair person has to climb on the roof to fix something. Do they crack like their ceramic counterpart? Also are they fire retardant? In any event its a brilliant idea.

Thanks Admin Wala...not sure but here are two links that could answer your question: http://tinyurl.com/o8sbmj http://tinyurl.com/lhbguq. Let me know what you find out. Again, thanks.

Well, I know that they are fire retardant. The issue is will they break easily? I think the jury is still out on that. Nevertheless, this is exactly what we are looking for on our house. I have yet to find anyone that offers solar shingles in Phoenix so it must be coming. I expect a ton of new solar applications will hit us in the next 24 months.
