WOW KINDLE IS THE GREATEST GREEN INVENTION EVER....ITS SAVING MILLIONS OF TREES EVERY YEAR.....

Over the past three months, for every 100 hardcover books Amazon.com has sold, it has sold 143 Kindle books.

Over the past month, for every 100 hardcover books Amazon.com has sold, it has sold 180 Kindle books.

This is across Amazon.com's entire U.S. book business and includes sales of hardcover books where there is no Kindle edition. Free Kindle books are excluded and if included would make the number even higher.

I just read this news yesterday and think it is great to finally see impact with the everyday consumer buying more and more e-books.

Hopefully the iPad will help as well!

What is the environmental cost of creating a Kindle? And of disposing of it when it's broken? It's a simplistic view to think that forests -- which are replanted by publishers -- ultimately cost more than Kindles and other artificial readers which contain poisonous and toxic metals.
