Following the success of high speed rail use in Europe, Japan and now China, President Obama unveiled the administrations blueprint for such a system here in the US. The system will cover the most populated parts of the US and focus on minimzing congestion in our largest cities. In addition the blueprint talks about the need for the system to reduce our debt on foreign oil and help the environment. I for one am in full support.

I have had the opportunity to travel to San Diego on business on Amtrak and feel that the ability to go to Los Angeles, Vegas, the Bay Area in a way that is comfortable, relatively low cost and allows me to keep working is good for all.

Early money for the program will comr from TARP funds and also from the 2010 fiscal year budget. I can see this creating a ton of new jobs, once again showing that one of the key ways to get us out of the economic malaise is by focusing on "Green" initiatives.

What do you think about this? Will you give up driving to Vegas and take the train?
