Summer time concerts continued...
California country band The Lost Trailers have already started their summer tour but its not like the other tours going on across the country right now. These boys have made it a goal to reduce their carbon footprint and so far they have reduced it by 132 tons since September!
This country band has decided that taking a tour bus along with other trailers filled with equipment and crew was such a waste and very expensive. So instead, they are hiring local crew and equipment at every stop they make. They don't even bring their own drum set! These guys are not only reducing their carbon footprint they are helping stimulate the economy by giving jobs to workers at every stop.
The Lost Trailers have also teamed up with Keep American Beautiful to help promote recycling and litter cleanup all across the country. They feel that having these concerts with all the waste that ends up on the ground, they needed to change something.
Says Ryder Lee of the band, "I think as country artists, it's really important to preserve the things that we grew up with. We're naturally outdoors men because of where we grew up, and keeping the rivers and streams clean is part of being country, and we're really proud of that. And Keep America Beautiful and their efforts in recycling and litter cleanup was really fitting for us, so it was a natural place to reach out -- not to mention, at our shows, there tends to be a few bottles and cans that build up. (Laugh)"
With bands stepping up and doing things like this and concerts promoting car pooling, its starting to look like a green summer!
