Coffee or Tea?

Recently I have decided to switch from drinking coffee every morning to drinking a cup of green tea with blueberry in the mornings. The reason? Well my stomach has kind of been acting up lately and before in the past a doctor has told me to lay off the caffeine because it was causing me stomach aches. I followed that for a little while then started craving mocha's from Starbucks and the addiction started back up again.

Although I have read articles in the past that say one cup of coffee a day isn't that bad for you, then I have read counter articles saying that coffee contains so much caffeine that it's terrible for the body and you should drink tea. Which is right?

A regular cup of black coffee can give you some benefits such as lowering your risk of diabetes, gallstones and possibly Parkinson's disease.

Tea, while having less caffeine, also helps prevent such diseases as Alzheimer's, Osteoporosis, and reduces your risk from some cancers. Tea is also known to help relax the blood vessels to reduce cholesterol levels.

Both contain amazing amounts of antioxidants and other substances that help regulate blood sugar levels, both can help with weight loss in the fact that Tea speeds up your metabolism while coffee suppresses your appetite.

How much is too much? Too much caffeine can cause heartburn, anxiety and rapid heartbeat. If you start to experience these symptoms, CUT BACK! A cup or two a day is fine, consuming anymore caffeine then necessary can cause problems such as bone loss.

So what's your morning beverage of choice? A regular cup of joe? A tall, non-fat, 2 pump sugar free vanilla latte? Or a cup of leafy green or black tea?
